Macros + serving size
Useful calories, protein, carbs and fat only matter if the serving size is realistic.
Healthy-focused meals that keep
Little Kitchen Big Ideas was born from the difficulty of working on construction projects far from readily available healthy food options. Since then, life has continued to shape the ideas first sprouted from small kitchens and site bunkies. Today, family health and mobility concerns have made the goal clearer: find, test and serve healthy meals with good macros, sensible serving sizes, easy prep and cleanup, and the ability to store and serve reliably.
Start here
The homepage stays short and branch-like. The bigger project story can grow, but launch should help people understand the mission, find meals, and follow new ideas without getting buried in a long scroll.
Mission first
Jobsite food limitations started the idea. Family health and mobility needs sharpened the purpose.
02Find meals
Filter around macros, serving size, calories, protein, cost, allergens, prep, cleanup, storage and reheat reliability.
New ideas
A blog-style log for recipes, storage tests, food systems, small-space cooking, growing notes and future experiments.
04Main video path
Full prep, batch-cook, storage and reheat walkthroughs tied directly to the meals people can make.
05Beyond recipes
Tips, tricks, gear tests, growing notes, behind-the-scenes clips and future project videos can live here.
06Optional support
Follow along, leave a tip, join a future membership, or support the gear store when that part is ready.
Why LKBI exists now
The first problem was practical: long days on custom construction projects far from readily available healthy food options. The little kitchens in site bunkies became places to stay warm, stay fed and keep work moving through winter builds.
The seed goes back even further: friends in small Riverdale apartments sharing a modest front-yard garden plot and often turning small kitchens into places for large shared meals. That remains the genesis point, but the launch focus is useful food that works in real life.
As family health and mobility concerns increased, the idea became clearer. LKBI is about finding, testing and serving healthy meals focused on good macros, sensible serving sizes, easy prep and cleanup, and food that can be stored, reheated and served reliably.
Find meals
Calories and protein matter, but LKBI meals should also be practical: affordable, allergen-aware, easy to prepare, easy to clean up after and reliable to store, reheat or serve later.
Useful calories, protein, carbs and fat only matter if the serving size is realistic.
The site favours meals that can be repeated without creating a full-kitchen mess.
Fridge, freezer, travel and reheat notes are part of the recipe, not an afterthought.
Good food should be practical for budgets and clear about common allergens.
Database note: recipes are strongest when macros are either from original testing, label math, Canadian Nutrient File / USDA-style ingredient calculation, or a licensed API/source. Blind scraping is not the launch plan.
Database path
The searchable index should not become a maintenance burden. Start with your own recipes and a small number of permissioned or public-source recipes where serving size, ingredient quantities and major macros can be checked.
Add a macro confidence note to each recipe: tested, calculated, label-based, third-party estimate, or needs review. That lets LKBI grow without pretending every number is perfect.

This is where the bigger LKBI world can grow without crowding the meal finder: storage tests, ingredient comparisons, small-space cooking, future Rooms4Growth notes, growing experiments and video planning.

Meal videos
The first videos should support the core food promise: simple prep, batch cooking, realistic cleanup, storage tests, reheat notes and serving-size decisions.
Coming soon
Before there is a full channel, this section can explain the plan: film simple healthy meals, prep timing, cleanup, storage, freezer notes and reheat results. Once the channel exists, add Video posts in WordPress or embed playlists.
Other videos + later branches
This tab keeps a place for tips, gear tests, growing notes, Good Food To Go, Bunkie/Rooms4Growth and behind-the-scenes clips. The meal videos stay primary; everything else can grow as the site earns content.
Portable meals, jobsite lunches and food systems for days away from a normal kitchen.
Small warm spaces, garden rooms and future guest/growing ideas as the food story expands.
Beyond meal walkthroughs: tips, gear tests, storage comparisons, growing notes and behind-the-scenes clips.
Keep as a support path for later. The site remains WooCommerce-ready without needing a store at launch.
